Shrinking Appliqué - Fussy Cut

When fussy cutting applique for shrinking, the nice thing is that you don't have to trace a pattern.  In the flower examples the petal edges are used for the stitching lines along with stitching around the outer edge.  More stitching creates more texture.

The pansy in the written instructions could use a bit of stuffing where the flower didn't shrink as much.  The yellow flower in the video had more petal edges so you might not need much stuffing for a trapunto look.
